Message from the Principal
PBMS Music Program: Several parents and community members reached out last week to express concerns about the music program. Please know, PBMS has music classes in the schedule for next year based on student interest. Check out the following link for more details about music at PBMS next year.
22-23 Music Letter
Be sure to check out our student performers this week. We have two concerts: one on Tuesday - Strings at 6:30pm and again on Wednesday - Band at 6:30pm. Both events take place in the auditorium. When attending these events, please sit in family groups, masks are recommended and do not come if you are experiencing any COVID symptoms..
Mission Bay Cluster Meeting: Please join us at the best meeting of the year: Senior Panel! The meeting is on Thursday, June 2 at 6:00pm in the Mission Bay High School library. At the meeting, after a brief update from the principals of the Mission Bay cluster schools, we will have a senior panel to highlight the experiences and accomplishments of some of our Cluster's upcoming grads. It is a great event to hear about the high school experience!
8th Grade End of Year Events: This week, a small packet will go home with every 8th grader. This packet contains information about the Sea World field trip and Promotion. It also has 3 forms to sign: a permission slip for Sea World, a permission slip for Promotion, and a form to complete about attendance after the ceremony. Be sure to ask your child for the packet and get the forms returned ASAP.
The 8th grade dance is scheduled for this Friday, June 3 from 5:00-7:00pm. Tickets are on sale this week for $5 at lunch. Parents must review behavior expectations and sign the permission slip on the back of the ticket. For more questions, email Ms. McElroy at [email protected].
School Funding: PBMS needs your help. Every year the State and Federal governments provide extra funding to schools serving students with the biggest needs. Federal funding is called Title 1 and State funding is called LCFF. PBMS lost all of Title 1 funding for next year and had a small reduction in LCFF funds. We can get the funding restored for the 23-24 school year if we qualify based on your income range and family size. Please complete and submit the LCFF form that was sent home with your child last week. You can also do this online in PowerSchool. Here is the JOB AID, We are expecting 100% completion. We missed qualifying for Title 1 funds by just 20 students.
Extra Elective Campaign: PBMS is raising money to help fund the extra elective program. Check out this video: 7th Period Fundraiser. To donate:
- School: $2500
- GoFundMe: $1300
- Total: $3800
- 15% towards our goal!
COVID Updates:In the past week, PBMS had 3 positive COVID cases on campus. Please keep your child home if they are experiencing any COVID symptoms. Weekly testing is recommended for all students. If PBMS experiences an outbreak, we may require masks indoors again. A special notice will go home if that becomes necessary.
