Message from Principal Meng
PBMS Winter Dance: The “Met Gala” dance will take place tomorrow at PBMS from 4:30-6:30 PM. To match the theme, we are encouraging students to dress semi-formal, but it is only required that you follow the school district’s dress code. Tickets are $5 (cash only) and must be purchased by lunch tomorrow. We will NOT sell tickets in the evening at the door of the event. The tickets have a permission slip on the back that needs to be signed and brought with students to the event to be able to enter the dance. We encourage students to take a picture of both sides of the ticket in case it is lost. Much more information can be found in this slidedeck: DANCE and at the end of this message.
Community Service:
Ava V is hosting this fundraising event for her IB Community Project. All proceeds will be donated to support underprivileged youth sports. Ava believes, "Sports are an important part of growing up and underprivileged children deserve a safe space to play." It’s Star Wars night, so don’t forget to dress up! Check out this link to learn about the student fundraiser for the Cancer Research Institute. Our students, Andrew and Lukas have personal connections to their cause.
PBMS Clubs: The Military Kids Unite club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday January 25 at 1:40 PM in the pit. Please contact Mr. O’Donnell if you have any questions. Check out the school website for more club information.
PBMS Covid Testing: Effective January 28th COVID testing will shift from weekly site testing to an ALL HOME test kit model. Students and staff who wish to test regularly or as needed after Jan. 28 can pick up free home test kits from the office through the end of the school year. District contact tracing and case management for students and staff will continue until further notice. All positive home test results should be reported to the school nurse and the self reporting tool.
Feedback: If you have questions or concerns, please contact me via email at [email protected] or Mr. Sobel, Associate Principal, at [email protected]. We will connect you with someone who can help or assist you ourselves. Again, we strive to create a space where students want to come to school, staff want to come to work and parents want to send their children. Take care.

The price of the ticket covers the price for DJ and access to a professional photo booth and caricature artist if you choose to dance, take pictures, and want a caricature made (these will be free). We will also have a free craft and game section at the dance.
Students will only need to bring money if they want to purchase items from our food trucks, Beach-N-Boba and Tacos El Unico - cash and credit cards only - NO apple pay or other credit card apps.
The theme is “Met Gala” and we are encouraging students to dress semi-formal, but it is only required that you follow the school district’s dress code.
Students are expected to arrive at 4:30 and stay until 6:30. If a student needs to come late or leave early, they are expected to clear it through Ms. Mack, Principal Ms. Meng or Vice-Principal Mr. Sobel. No student can leave the dance early on their own.
