PB Palooza: PBMS Music Association raised ~ $3000!

Message from Principal Meng

PBMS has an amazing music association! The group hosts fundraisers so that our music program flourishes. Thank you to all who attended PB Palooza on October 3rd. You helped with purchasing new instruments for our students. On that note, here is a message from Mr. O’Donnell:  The music department is still missing instruments that were lent out the last two years.  Please check your basements, garages, closets, attics, and sheds for any misplaced instruments.  You can drop them off in the main office.  Thank you!

Every 5 years, PBMS is evaluated by the International Baccalaureate organization to assure our program meets their standards of a high quality program. During this process, we review our entire program including school policies. Please feel free to check out the following policies and send any feedback you may have to Ashley Hensen, the IB Coordinator at ahensen@sandi.net.

Citizenship marks will look different this year to provide a better understanding of  classroom behaviors. Here are the new marks:

E - Exceeds expectations

M - Meets expectations

I - Inconsistent with expectations

U - Unsatisfactory

Bike Issue - NO NEW UPDATES:  If you see suspicious activity in and around the school, say something. During school hours, call us at 619-221-5600. After hours and weekends call SDPD at 619-531-2000 or SDUSD PD at 619-291-7678.

Counseling Corner

Our counseling team is engaged with great work with our students. Counselors visited 6th grade English classes to present about how we support students at school. The guidance assistant  met with several students individually to discuss grades and how to do well in school. For other news and information, check out the Counseling Newsletter for OCTOBER!

Family Homework

  • Federal Survey Cards: The next form for parents to complete is the annual Federal Survey Card. We expect 100% completion along with the LCFF form. Both forms help generate State and Federal $$ for PBMS. Please do your part. THANK YOU!
  • Set up your PowerSchool Parent Portal - You will need this to view report cards.  PowerSchool
  • Complete your COVID testing form by opting in or out. We are asking for every family to complete the form even if they do not want testing. Opting in to testing must be done by Wednesday  evenings to test the following Monday.

Parent Information & Reminders

Choice window is now open! Families may enroll next year in specialty magnet programs or schools outside their neighborhood boundaries. This application window will be open from October 4 through November 15, 2021; all applications are given equal priority regardless of when they are received. The choice program is open to all existing San Diego Unified students, as well as out of district students, and students attending schools in other settings such as private or charter schools. For questions about school choice, the district's Neighborhood Schools and Enrollment Options staff are offering assistance via email, phone, and in person by appointment.

PULL FORWARD! Tips for a safer, smoother drop off & pick-up experience

  • Be safe: always watch for pedestrians, do not block driveways or crosswalks, do not park in red zones.
  • Pull forward to the end of the yellow curve before stopping to let your student out of the car.
  • Pull forward to the car in front of you before stopping to let your student out of the car.
  • Only use the loop if your child is prepared to exit the car quickly or gets out of school quickly.
  • Park in the lot along Felspar if you will be waiting in your car for any reason.
  • East = Entrance ONLY
  • West = Exit ONLY
  • Do NOT park in the loop spaces;  Do NOT use the loop if your child has to get their belongings out of the trunk; Do NOT  use the loop if you are going to wait in the car with your child before school starts; Do NOT use the loop if you need to make a phone call after your child gets out of the car. Drop off and Pick up Demo Video
