Winter Concerts Bring Holiday Joy to PBMS Community

Message from Principal Meng

Mission Bay Cluster Meeting: Save the date for the Mission Bay Cluster meeting at PB Elementary school on Thursday, January 5 at 6:00 pm. Learn about STEAM education and Whole Site Modernization projects at the schools in our TK-12 cluster. In addition, there will be a special session at 5:15 pm before the meeting to learn about the SDUSD Vision 2030 and to provide feedback. We hope to see you there.

Middle School Athletics: Due to the overwhelmingly positive response of student/school sign ups for winter Middle School Athletics, we wanted to inform all potential middle school athletic participants that the tryouts for the winter season of soccer and volleyball are being delayed so that we have equity for all participating schools. The positive response has created supply and staffing shortages that we are working to resolve. For fairness purposes we believe that all schools should have a coach and proper supplies in place before we begin our winter season. PBMS is set with our coaching staff. However, if you know of any qualified candidates to coach either boys or girls in those respective sports at another middle school, please share this information with them:

We would love to have you coach at our middle schools and help develop our student athletes.

You will receive a $1,600 stipend (before taxes) for the season, which will run from 1/ 9 to 3/11.

We will continue to communicate but our hope is that tryouts for all teams will start on their assigned days the week of January 9th per this schedule and that we will still start the official 10 game season on January 21st.

SDUSD Attendance Letters: Just prior to the winter break, SDUSD generated attendance letters for any student with 3 or more unexcused absences at the district level. This is a CA state requirement. If you think there is an error, please reach out to Lauren Myers, our new permanent school clerk, at [email protected]. As a site, if we have concerns about your child’s attendance, the school counselors or health office staff will reach out to you individually.

6th Grade Camp UPDATE: In case you have not heard, 6th grade camp was postponed to the week of June 5-9. Only one form needs to be resubmitted. It will be sent home soon for parents to sign and return. We can also accommodate any students who were not ready to commit to camp in December. Please reach out to your child's science teacher if you have any questions.
