CP Objectives

The Middle Years Programme Community Project

Your team will document your progress by keeping a shared Community Project Process Journal. In your Process Journal you can document research and ideas, to-do list, photos, evidence of taking action, reflections, Exhibition design, etc. You will also complete a personal reflection, and present your final product, solution, and/or project overview. Their process journal will document the following steps in completing:

Objective:
A: Investigate (researching, Statement of Intent)
B: Plan (Proposal for Action plan)
C: Take action (doing the project)
D: Reflect (includes evaluating, presenting/sharing)

To learn more please view the sample documents and bring ideas, questions, problem to Take Action Tuesdays at the IB Office in the PB IB Office.

Remember to document your progress of meeting these objectives in your team's process journal. Your final score on your Community Project will be based on evidence of your achievement of the objectives.

Community Project Objectives

A Investigating
Students should be able to:

  1. define agoal to address a need within a community, based on personal interests
  2. identify prior learning and subject-specific knowledge relevant to the project
  3. demonstrate research skills.

B Planning
Students should be able to:

  1. develop a proposal for action to serve the need in the community
  2. planand record the development process of the project
  3. demonstrate self-management skills.

C Taking action
Students should be able to:

  1. demonstrate service as action as a result of the project
  2. demonstrate thinking skills
  3. demonstrate communication and social skills.

D Reflecting
Students should be able to:

  1. evaluate the quality of the service as action against the proposal
  2. reflect on how completing the project has extended their knowledge and understanding ofservice learning
  3. reflect on my development of approaches to learning skills (research; communication; social skills; self-management; thinking)
